No Module Pop-up menu

Got a user that gets no right-click pop-up menu when inside a module. Gets the pop-up menu in the DOORS explorer and also in non-DOORS applications. Have re-installed DOORS.

Thoughts?

I think I hold the record for the most number of initial posts with zero replies.

For us Aussies - I guess "Mate" is perhaps the closest endearing term.

I probably could have been more helpful but then again you may have already gone down the following path.

To state the bleeding obvious - this being an exceptional event, a process of logical elimination is required - that is, given that the DOORS client apparently installs and works fine on the vast majority of PC's, what makes this particular users PC different from the rest?

When a peripheral like a mouse or keyboard is used, it sets up an interrupt that passes data to the currently focused windows application, so for some weird reason, the RH mouse click event is being blocked when a DOORS module is open, or it is actually opening but is hidden behind the formal module (clutching at straws now, but DOORS 5v2 did have this problem with one of it's dialogues as I recall but that was a DOORS bug). Maybe the user has a strange mouse\track pad with equally weird drivers, weird config settings.

Could another application be fouling with DOORS? Restart the PC, launch DOORS with no other apps open, see what happens.

Is this user using a PC that is out of the ordinary? Maybe a non standard corporate SOE, an O\S platform that has had all manner of customisations made to its environment and so on.

Has the company considered the option of offering early retirement for this user - that would solve the problem!!

Bit of a needle in the haystack. Good luck!

Louie,

Some questions, but no answers...

Does this happen with another user in the same module on the same physical machine?
Does this happen with the same user on another physical machine?

Can you isolate it to user, machine, or module, or a specific combination?

Is the user a keen DXLer? Could there be a rogue dxl script running that has done something weird?

If you wanted to write a script to achieve this, could you?

The user was trying to right-click in the module explorer (left pane) instead of the objects (right pane), had someone else say that's what they do. Drove all the way over there for nothing. Except lunch.

Wouldn't have been such a pain had I known it was a pane.

Nice pun Louie :-)

I hope you confiscated their mouse after lunch.
